Indian Navy received two MH 60R multi-role helicopters from US on 28th July.

  • The Indian Navy received two MH 60R multi-role helicopters from the United States (US) at the Cochin International Airport on 28th July.
  • The copters were delivered by the US Air Force’s Special Air Assignment Mission flight.
  • The helicopters were part of 24 MH 60R multirole helicopters that were being procured by India from the United States at a cost of over Rs 14,000 crore.
  • The 1st 3 helicopters delivered to the US in 2021 are being used for crew training of the Indian Navy. Another helicopter will be delivered on 22nd August 2022.

Significance :

International Day of Friendship is an initiative based on UNESCO’s proposal to define a culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes and behaviors that who reject violence and try to prevent conflicts by addressing their root causes with a view to solving problems.

  • 27th July is the 7th death aniversary of “Missile Man of India” Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam or Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
