On 20 November, the 22nd FIFA Men’s World Cup was formally declared open at a colorful ceremony held at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.
It is the first time that an Arab country is hosting the football tournament.
32 teams will battle it out for the most prestigious prize in international football, with the final taking place on 18th December at the Lusail Stadium, the largest of the eight stadiums being used to host the World Cup.
On 18th December, 2022, the national day of Qatar, the opening game takes place between Qatar and Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
