Anti-Terrorism Day : 21st May

Anti-Terrorism Day is observed every year on 21st May on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Former PM Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21st May 1991 in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. It was only after his assassination that it was decided to celebrated 21st May as Anti-Terrorism Day.

National Anti Terrorism Day is celebrated in India on 21st May. The day is also celebrated to create awareness about terrorism & its effects on the people and the nation. This day is also used to remember all the victims of terrorism and their families. The day is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of counter-terrorism cooperation & coordination among all stakeholders.
