The Indian army informed on 6 January 2023 that largest ever contingent of woman soldiers has been for UN peacekeeping operation in Abyei region of Africa.
The women platoon, comprising two officers and 25 other rank will be part of the Indian infantry battalion deployed in the United Nations Interim Security Forces for Absei (UNISFA).
This female engagement team (FET) will provide relief and assistance to local woman and children’s.
Earlier, in 2007, 125 members policewomen contingent was deployed in a UN Peacekeeping mission in Liberia.
