On 28 May 2022, A survey by the Geological Survey of India states that the Jamui district of Bihar has gold reserves of about 222.88 million tonnes, including 27.6 tonnes of mineral-rich ore. The Bihar government has now decided to allow exploration of what is called as India’s largest gold deposit.

The State Mines & Geology Department is in consultation with agencies engaged in the exploration, including GSI and the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), for the exploration of gold reserves in Jamui.
