Britain, Italy & Japan to jointly develop future fighter jet.

  • Britain, Italy and Japan said on 9 december that they will jointly develop future fighter jets using artificial intelligence.
  • The three nations voiced the possibility of cooperation with European and US allies, which are developing sixth-generation aircraft of their own, pledging to maintain interoperability among all allies against threats from the likes of China.
  • The new “Global Combat Air Program” is set to produce its first jets by 2035, merging the three countries’ expensive existing research into new air combat technology, from stealth capabilities to high-tech sensors.
