India has launched Operation to bring back its citizens stranded in Sudan. The rescue operation has been named Operation Kaveri.

On 23 April 2023, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in a tweet said that nearly 500 Indians have reached Port Sudan and more are on their way. He said, Indian ships and aircraft are set to bring stranded Indian nationals back home. He added that the Government of India is committed to assisting all its brethren in Sudan.

The NQM will help develop magnetometers with high sensitivity in atomic systems, atomic clocks for precision timing, communications, and navigation, and support design and synthesis of quantum materials such as superconductors, novel semiconductor structures, and topological materials for fabrication of quantum devices.

Four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) will be set up in top academic and National R&D institutes on the domains – Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing & Metrology, and Quantum Materials & Devices.

The mission will benefit communication, health, financial and energy sectors, as well as drug design and space applications.

The NQM will boost National priorities like digital India, Make in India, Skill India and Stand-up India, Start-up India, Self-reliant India and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Government has notified the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023

The Central government has notified the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023 on 18 April 2023.

The rules have addressed the Supreme Court guidelines in a writ petition between the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) and the People for Elimination of Stray Troubles.

Effective implementation of the rules will help in reducing stray dog population and addressing animal welfare issues.

The Animal Birth Control programme for sterilization and immunization of stray dogs will be carried out by local bodies, municipalities, municipal corporations and panchayats.

Municipal corporations need to implement the ABC and Anti Rabies Program jointly.

The rules provide guidelines on how to deal with human and stray dog conflicts without relocating dogs in an area.

The Central Government has issued letters to all State Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of Animal Husbandry Department and Urban Development Department.

The Department of Personnel and Training has approved the conduct of the SSC MTS examination and CHSL Examination, in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English.

Marketing and Logistics Development for Promotion of Tribal Products from North-Eastern Region (PTP-NER) scheme

On April 18th, 2023, the Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, launched the Marketing and Logistics Development for Promotion of Tribal Products from North-Eastern Region (PTP-NER) scheme in Manipur. The scheme aims to benefit the Scheduled Tribes of the North-Eastern Region by improving the efficiency of procurement, logistics, and marketing of their products, ultimately strengthening the livelihood opportunities of tribal artisans.

The PTP-NER scheme will be applicable to the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim. As part of the initiative, 68 Tribal Artisan Melas will be organized in various districts of the region to facilitate the empanelment of tribal artisans from the North Eastern Region. Indian Army Introduces Computer Based Online Exam for Agniveer Recruitment

The Online Common Entrance Exam for 2023-24 recruitment of Agniveers into the Army has started on 18 April 2023.

The exam is being conducted at 375 Examination Centers in 176 pan-India locations, and it will continue till the 26th of April.

The Indian Army has introduced a Computer Based Online Exam as the first step of a transformed recruitment procedure for Agniveers, Junior Commissioned Officers and other categories.

Education Consultancy Services India Limited, a Mini Ratna Company under the Ministry of Education, is providing assistance for the online exam.

The recruitment process will be carried out in three stages:

  • Stage one: Online Common Entrance Exam for all candidates who have registered and applied online.
