
- The Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2020 will be presented to veteran actress Asha Parekh.
- Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said on 27th September, he is honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to recognize and award Asha Parekh ji for her exemplary lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema.
- Minister also announced that the 68th National Film Awards will be held on 30th September, which will be presided over by President Draupadi Murmu.
What is Dadasaheb Phalke Award?
Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest award in the field of cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organization set up by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The recipient is awarded for his “outstanding contribution to the growth & development of Indian cinema” and is selected by a committee of eminent personalities from the Indian film industry.
