Dilip Tirkey unanimously elected as the President of Hockey India.

Former India hockey captain and member of the 1998 Asian Games gold medal winning team Dilip Tirkey was unanimously elected as the President of Hockey India.
For the first time in history, a former sportsperson and Olympian has headed a national body.
Tirkey at the age of 44, has played a record 412 international matches as a defender in a career spanning over 15 years.
Before Tirkey’s election as president, Hockey India was under the jurisdiction of the CoA on the orders of the Delhi High Court due to alleged violations of the National Sports Act.
