- The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has detected customs evasion of about Rs 2,217 crore by Vivo Mobile India Pvt Ltd.
- Vivo India is a subsidiary of Vivo Communication Technology Company in China.
- It is engaged in the business of manufacturing, assembling, wholesale trading as well as distribution of mobile handsets and accessories.
- During the investigation, searches were conducted in the factory premises of the company by the agency which led to the recovery of incriminating evidence. An amount of Rs 60 crore has been voluntarily deposited by Vivo India towards discharge of its differential duty liability.
