Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan (GKRA) completes 2 years on 20th June 2022.
The Government of India launched GKRA on 20 June 2020 for a period of 125 days with a resource envelope of Rs 50,000 crore to boost employment & livelihood opportunities for the returning migrant workers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The objectives of the Abhiyaan were to provide immediate employment & livelihood opportunities to the distressed, to saturate the villages with public infrastructure and to create public assets to boost the income generation activities & enhance long term livelihood opportunities by giving focus on 25 works in 116 selected districts across 6 states Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh. A total of 12 Ministries & Departments of Government of India participated in the Abhiyaan. A total of 50.78 crore person-days employment was generated during the Abhiyaan.
