Global Media & Information Literacy 2022 : 24th October to 31st October.

Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week is observed from 24th October to 31st October. Global MIL Week 2022 focuses on trust and solidarity as it deals with people, media, digital platforms, governments, the private sector and NGOs. It highlights some promising actions with respect to media and information literacy in the past year and how media and information literacy helps nurture trust and combat mistrust.

Theme :

UNESCO has announced the theme in 2022 is “Nurturing trust : A Media and Information Literacy Imperative.”

History :

The first Global Media and Information Literacy Week was held in Fez, Morocco in 2011. The concept of this initiative arose out of the need for every individual to be equipped with media and information literacy capabilities so that it could help in reducing misinformation along with proper communication and availability of correct information. Media serves as a source of information, allowing people to connect and make better decisions.
