India has become the world’s third largest producer of renewable energy.

The government has said that India has turned into a power surplus nation with a total installed power capacity of over four lakh MW.
In keeping with the Sustainable Development Goals, India’s electricity generation mix is rapidly moving towards a more significant share of renewable energy.
On 9th September 2022, India is the world’s 3rd largest producer of renewable energy, with 40% of its installed power capacity coming from non-fossil fuel sources.
Electricity generation from renewable energy sources has increased from 51 thousand 226 gigawatt hours to 1 lakh 38 thousand 337 gigawatt hours in 2020.
