- In football, India won the SAFF Under-17 Championship title by defeating Nepal 4–0 in the final in Colombo on 14th September.
- Bobby Singh, Korou Singh, captain Vanlalpeka Guite & Aman scored a goal each, to shape a resounding victory in India’s favour.
- Nepal beat India 3-1 in the group league. In the final, India performed clinically to clinch the title for the 4th time.
- India captain Vanlalpeka Guite was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while goalkeeper Sahil won the best goalkeeper award.
