Indian Army Celebrates Infantry Day 2022 : 27 October

Indian Army Infantry Day is celebrated every year on 27 October to pay tribute to the soldiers who fought for the country and laid down their lives in the line of duty. To celebrate 76th Infantry Day on 27th October in year 2022, soldiers are organizing four bike rallies simultaneously from all major directions, Wellington (Tamil Nadu), Jammu (J&K), Shillong (Meghalaya), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

History :

On 26 October 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir signed the Instrument of Accession, due to which Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir became part of the Indian dominion. The Pakistani army could not tolerate this and disguised themselves as tribal raiders to forcibly invade the region with the intention of capturing the state of Jammu and Kashmir and making it a part of Pakistan.
The courage and strength of the Indian Army saved the state from Pakistani Rangers and many soldiers lost their lives. Lt Col Dewan Ranjit Rai played an important role in stopping the Pakistani invaders but unfortunately lost his life in the Baramulla area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir.
