Indian Coast Guard inducts new Advanced Light Helicopter Squadron 840 CG at Chennai on 20th June 2022.

In the Indian Coast Guard, a new Air Squadron named 840 Squadron was formed at Chennai on 20th June 2022, initially with an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mark-III aircraft. The aircraft was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute in the presence of Commander General AP Badola, Eastern Coast Guard Region. This is the 1st such aircraft to be deployed by the Defense Force in the Eastern Sector.

The Coast Guard says that three more Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) aircraft will be added to the list of the new squadron soon. The aircraft has Beyond the Visual Range Detection using modern radars. It is equipped for target neutralization operations using its mounted heavy machine gun.
