Indian Council of Agricultural Research developed a new variety of wheat.

  • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed a new wheat variety that can overcome the challenges posed by changing weather patterns and rising heat levels.
  • This new variety of wheat, called HD-3385, is suited for early sowing, survives the effects of heat stroke and can be harvested before the end of March.
  • Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has registered HD-3385 ​​with the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPVFRA).
  • In view of rising temperature, the Center announced setting up of a committee to monitor the situation arising out of rise in temperature and its impact on the current wheat crop.
