Indian Grandmaster Arjun Arigasi defeated World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen of the chess tournament.

19-year-old Indian Grandmaster Arjun Arigasi defeated five-time world chess champion Magnus Carlsen in the opening round of the Amches Rapid online chess tournament on 16 October.
This is Arigasse’s first win over Norwegian Carlsen. Arigasi had previously lost to Carlsen in the Julius Baer Generation Cup final in September.
Arigasi had started the tournament after losing to compatriot Vidit Santosh Gujrathi and are currently in fifth place after eight rounds.
Another Indian, D Gukesh, is at the sixth spot with 12 points after mixed luck on the second day of the prelims.
