- Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on 25th August appointed eminent scientist Dr Sameer V Kamat as its chairman.
- The Defense Organization is the research and development arm of the Ministry of Defence.
- Kamat, who is the Director General of Naval Systems and Materials (NS&M), will replace G Satheesh Reddy, who has been named as Scientific Adviser to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh as per the Personnel Ministry order.
- Reddy was appointed Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) chief for 2 years in August 2018. He was given a two-year extension in the post in August 2020.
