Top Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash won the men’s 200m butterfly gold & Vedanta Madhavan won silver in the men’s 1500m freestyle event at the Danish Open Swimming Meet in Copenhagen, Denmark from 15 to 19 April, 2022.

Participating in his first international competition this year, Prakash stopped the clock at 1.59.27 to stand on the podium. Earlier, the Kerala swimmer had qualified for the ‘A’ final with a time of 2.03.67 in heats. However, his performance was not even close to the 28-year-old’s personal best time of 1:56:38, which came in Rome last year, when Prakash became the first Indian swimmer to break the Olympic ‘A’ standard time.
Vedant Madhavan, 16 years old, won a silver medal in the men’s 1500m freestyle event, son of actor R Madhavan, who finished second with a time of 15.57.86 in the 10-swimmer final. He won a bronze medal at the Latvia Open in March 2021, and also won seven medals at the Junior National Aquatic Championships last year – four silver and three bronze.
