Indo-Japanese joint military training exercise “Dharma Guardian” to be held in Japan.

  • The 4th edition of joint military exercise “Exercise Dharma Guardian” between India and Japan is being conducted at Camp Imazu, Shiga province in Japan from 17 Feb to 2 Mar 2023.
  • Soldiers from the Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army & an Infantry Regiment from the Middle Army of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) are participating in the exercise this year.
  • During the exercise, military personnel from both countries will be involved in various missions including joint planning, joint tactical exercises, sharing of basics of setting up integrated surveillance grids and employment of aerial assets. The joint exercise will help both the armies to know each other better, share their vast experiences & enhance situational awareness.
  • “Exercise Dharma Guardian” is an annual training program with Japan in the series of military training exercises conducted by India with different countries. This edition of the exercise also includes platoon level joint training for military operations in jungle & semi-urban/urban areas.
