History :
International Day of Democracy was established in 2007 after a resolution was passed by United Nations General Assembly. According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the resolution was geared towards consolidating & strengthening democracy. International Day of Democracy was 1st observed in 2008 & since then, several parliamentary events have been organized across the world.
