International Friendship Day is observed annually on 30th July and was 1st proposed by the World Friendship Crusade, an international civil organization, in 1958. According to the United Nations, International Day of Friendship can help promote peace and social harmony among people. Friendship Day is also celebrated on the 1st Sunday of August in India as well as in many other countries. This year it is falling on 7th August 2022.

History :
International Day of Friendship was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures & individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
Significance :
International Day of Friendship is an initiative based on UNESCO’s proposal to define a culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes and behaviors that who reject violence and try to prevent conflicts by addressing their root causes with a view to solving problems.
