International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated each year on 8 March to commemorate the cultural, political & socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women’s rights movement, which draws attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence & abuse against women.

International Women’s Day theme of 2022 is “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
History of International Women’s Day:
International Women’s Day was observed first time in 1911. The United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day in the International Women’s Year, 1975.
In 1977 the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim 8 March as the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace.
