The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully conducted a joint hypersonic vehicle test with Headquarters, Integrated Defense Staff (HQ IDS) on 9th December. The country’s top space research agency issued a statement saying the joint hypersonic vehicle test met pre-set goals.
What is a hypersonic vehicle?
A hypersonic vehicle can be an airplane, missile, or spacecraft that has the ability to travel at speeds greater than five times the speed of sound, or Mach 5. It is considered cutting edge technology and countries such as China, India, Russia and the United States are trying to further enhance the capability of their hypersonic weapons. The Indian space agency is developing hypersonic missiles in collaboration with Russia.
