The United States Parliament has elected Kevin McCarthy of the Republican Party as the Speaker of the House of Representatives after 15 rounds of voting. He is the 55th speaker of the US House of Representatives.
He was working as the House Minority Leader in the House. He has replaced Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives.
In the midterm elections, Republicans won 222 seats to the Democrats’ 212. Kevin McCarthy defeated 52-year-old Hakeem Jeffery.
Kevin McCarthy received 216 votes, while Hakeem Jeffery received 212 votes. Let us tell you that Kevin McCarthy of the Republican Party will be the 55th speaker of the US House of Representatives.
