On 17 February 2023, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has designated two organizations, Khalistan Tiger Force and Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force, as terrorist organizations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, UAPA.
- The Khalistan Tiger Force is a militant outfit aiming to revive terrorism in Punjab and is involved in various acts of terrorism, including targeted killings.
- The Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force is involved in infiltration attempts, narcotics, and weapons smuggling, as well as terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
- The government has also declared Harwinder Singh Sandhu@Rinda, associated with the Babbar Khalsa International terrorist organization and based in Lahore, Pakistan, a terrorist.
- The Central Government amended the UAPA in August 2019, allowing the designation of individuals as terrorists. So far, the government has designated 53 individuals and 44 organizations as terrorist organizations.
