Madhabi Puri Buch is SEBI’s first woman chairperson

Madhabi Puri Buch. former whole-time member of the securities and exchange board of India (SEBI), has been appointed as its new chairperson the first woman to head the market regulator. She assume charge on 1 March 2022.

Buch, who will take over fom current SEBI cheif Ajay Tyagi, has been appointed for a tenure of three years.

With over three decades of experience in the financial markets , Buch was SEBI whole-time member between 5 April 2017 and October 4, 2021, during which she handled portfolios such as surveillance, collective investment schemes and investment management.
