Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has died died on 30th August at the age of 91 in a Moscow hospital.
Hospital authorities in Moscow said in a statement that Mikhail Gorbachev died after a serious and prolonged illness.
His health has declined in recent years. In June 2022, he had been admitted after suffering kidney ailment, although his cause of death has not been announced.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating a historic nuclear weapons deal with US leader Ronald Reagan, and saw his decision to withdraw Soviet forces when the Berlin Wall fell a year earlier as a key to maintaining Cold War peace. After his demise, the world lost a unique preacher of peace.
