Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the Singapore Weightlifting International tournament on 25 February 2022. With this Mirabai Chanu has qualified for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham this year.
Mirabai topped the tournament for the first time in the 55 kg category by lifting a total of 191 kg. At the same time, Bindyarani Devi also qualified for the Commonwealth Games by winning the gold medal in the 59 kg category.
Among men, Sanket Sagar and Rishikant Singh have qualified for Commonwealth Games in 55kg. Sanket won gold and Rishikant Singh won silver medal in the tournament.
