Muslim Women’s Right Day 2022 : 1st August

Muslim Women’s Rights Day is observed every year on 1st August to celebrate the enforcement of law against the ‘Triple Talaq’ regime among Muslims. According to the Shariat or Muslim Personal Law, Muslim men were given the privilege to end their marriage by uttering the word talaq 3 times in a row. But in 2019, the Government of India repealed this law.

The Central Government of India on 1st August 2019 enacted a law against Triple Talaq. The new law was welcomed by all women, especially Muslim women in India and since then 1st August is celebrated as Muslim Women’s Rights Day. This year marks the 2nd anniversary of Muslim Women’s Rights Day in India.
