The nation is paying homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 67th Mahaparinirvan Divas. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Baba Saheb Ambedkar on the occasion of his Mahaparinirvan Diwas, at the Parliament House complex in New Delhi.
History :
BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, was born on 14th April, 1891. Known as Babasaheb, he fought for the economic and social empowerment of Dalits in the country, ended the social scourge of untouchability and promoted gender equality. He was also among the seven members of the drafting committee that drafted the constitution of independent India. Babasaheb Ambedkar died on 6th December 1956. Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great social reformer and scholar. He devoted his entire life to eradicate casteism and uplift the poor, downtrodden, backward classes.
