National Energy Conservation Day 2022 : 14th December

National Energy Conservation Day is observed every year on 14 December 2022. It aims to showcase the country’s achievements in energy efficiency and conservation. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the conservation of energy as it is the best way to have a green and bright future.

History :

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under India’s Ministry of Power instituted the National Energy Conservation Awards in 1991 to recognize the contribution of industries and establishments in reducing energy consumption while maintaining their production through awards. The awards were given for the first time on 14 December 1991. Since then, the day has been declared as the National Energy Conservation Day. These awards are presented every year by eminent dignitaries at a function held on the same day.

In 2022 :

In 2022, Honorable President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu will be the chief guest of the event. Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy Shri R.K. Singh will address on the occasion. Shri Krishan Pal, Minister of State for Power & Heavy Industries and Shri Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power will also be present.
