National Statistics Day 2022 :
In recognition of the remarkable contribution made by Professor (Late) Prashant Chandra Mahalanobis in the field of statistics and economic planning, the Government of India has designated 29th June every year as National “Statistics Day” on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
It has been kept in the category of special days celebrated. The objective of this day is to create public awareness especially among the younger generation to take inspiration from Professor (Late) Mahalanobis about the role and importance of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy making.
