National Teachers Day 2022 : 5th September.

Teacher’s Day marks the birthday of the country’s 1st Vice President (1952–1962), who became the 2nd President of India (1962–1967), a scholar, philosopher, Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was born on 5th September 1888 But Teacher’s Day was 1st celebrated in the year 1962 on his 77th birthday. He was a teacher who became a philosopher, scholar and politician. He devoted his entire life to work towards the importance of education in the lives of the people.

Theme :

The theme for in year 2022 is “Leading in crisis, reimaging the future”.

History :

When Dr. Radhakrishnan took over as the 2nd President of India in 1962, his students approached him to seek permission to celebrate 5th September as a special day. Instead Dr. Radhakrishnan requested him to celebrate 5th September as Teacher’s Day to recognize the contribution of teachers in the society.

Significance :

Teacher’s Day is an event for which students and teachers alike look forward. The day is important for the students as it gives them a chance to understand the efforts made by their teachers to ensure proper education. Similarly, teachers also look forward to the Teacher’s Day celebrations as their efforts are recognized and honored by the students and other agencies as well.
