Light Combat Aircraft (Navy) and MIG29 K fighter aircraft successfully made maiden landing and take off from India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on 6 February.
According to the Indian Navy, the successful landing and take-off will further accelerate the initiative of self-reliance in the defense sector and strengthen the country’s combat preparedness.
The landing of LCA (Navy) on deck has demonstrated self-reliance in the country’s ability to design, develop, build and operate aircraft carriers indigenously with indigenous fighter jets.
It is indeed a historic achievement for the first time, the testing of a prototype aircraft – indigenously designed and manufactured by the Aeronautical Development Agency and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, has been successfully carried out on an indigenous aircraft carrier.
INS Vikrant is the 1st indigenous aircraft carrier and the most complex warship ever built by the country.
