PARAM PORUL, a state-of the art Supercomputer was inaugurated at NIT Tiruchirappalli on 25 May 2022, a joint initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) & Department of Science and Technology (DST). PARAM PORUL supercomputing facility is established under Phase 2 of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), where in majority of the components used to build this system have been manufactured & assembled within the country, along with an indigenous software stack developed by Centre for Development in Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in line with the Make in India initiative.

Qns.1-What is PARAM PORUL Supercomputer?
Ans.1- MoU was signed between NIT Tiruchirappalli & Centre for Development in Advanced Computing (C-DAC) on 12th October 2020 to establish this 838 TeraFlops Supercomputing Facility under National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). The system is based on direct contact liquid cooling technology to achieve high power utilization effectiveness. The system is equipped with a mixture of :
CPU nodes.
GPU nodes.
High Memory nodes.
High throughput storage.
High performance Infiniband interconnect.
Qns.2- What is the Benefits of PARAM PORUL Supercomputer?
Ans.2- The facility installed under National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) will strengthen this research. The new high-performance computational facility would aid researchers to solve large-scale problems of different fields of Science & Engineering. Many applications from various scientific domains have been established on the system for the benefit of researchers.
