PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pune Metro Rail Project on 4th March 2022. He also laid the foundation stone & inaugurated several development projects in Pune.
The 12-km section of Pune Metro has become operational and the remaining 21-km section will be commissioned by Mar 2023 covering a distance of 33.2 km with 30 stations. The cost of the metro project is Rs 11,400 crore.
While metro services were available in very few cities till 2014, in 2022, more than 12 cities are taking advantage of metro services or are on the verge of getting this facility. Looking at Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur and Pimpri-Chinchwad Pune, Maharashtra has a large share in this expansion.
