PM Modi commissioned the 1st indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, in Kochi.

  • PM Narendra Modi commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, at a ceremony at the Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi on 2nd September morning.
  • Prior to commissioning, PM Modi received the Guard of Honor at the shipyard, on arrival for the commissioning ceremony he received the Guard of Honor.
  • Designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house Warship Design Bureau & built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant is built with state-of-the-art automation facilities and is the largest ship ever built in India’s maritime history.
  • The indigenous aircraft carrier is named after its illustrious predecessor, India’s first aircraft carrier, which played a key role in the 1971 war.
