PM Narendra Modi commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, at a ceremony at the Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi on 2nd September morning.
Prior to commissioning, PM Modi received the Guard of Honor at the shipyard, on arrival for the commissioning ceremony he received the Guard of Honor.
Designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house Warship Design Bureau & built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant is built with state-of-the-art automation facilities and is the largest ship ever built in India’s maritime history.
The indigenous aircraft carrier is named after its illustrious predecessor, India’s first aircraft carrier, which played a key role in the 1971 war.
