PM Modi meets President of the UAE (United Arab Emirates) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on 27th June.

PM Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi on 27th June 2022.
The two leaders reiterated their commitment to further deepen and diversify the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It was the 1st personal meeting between the 2 leaders since August 2019 when the PM visited Abu Dhabi.

PM Modi meets President of the UAE

The main purpose of the visit was for the Prime Minister to offer his personal condolences on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in May 2022. Mr Modi expressed his condolences to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as well as other members of the royal family. He congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on being elected as the 3rd President of the United Arab Emirates and on becoming the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

During their virtual summit on 18 February, the two countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which has come into force from 1st May. The CEPA is expected to further boost trade and investment between the two countries. Bilateral trade stood at around $72 billion in 2021-22. UAE is India’s 3rd largest trading partner and 2nd largest export destination. UAE FDI into India has grown steadily over the years and currently stands at over $12 billion.
