- PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Doni Polo Airport, Itanagar and dedicated the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the nation on 19th November.
- In February 2019, the foundation stone of this airport was laid by the Prime Minister himself. Despite the challenges of the pandemic in between, the airport work has been completed in a very short time.
- The Doni Polo Airport will be the third operational airport in Arunachal Pradesh and the first in its capital Itanagar, taking the total number of airports in the Northeast to 16.
- Arunachal Pradesh currently has two airports, one at Pasighat and 2nd at Tezu.

About the Doni Polo Airport :
In a significant step to boost connectivity in the Northeast, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh – ‘Doni Polo Airport, Itanagar’. The name of the airport reflects the traditions and rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh and its age-old indigenous reverence for the Sun (‘Doni’) and the Moon (‘Polo’). The airport, which is the first greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh, has been developed over an area of over 690 acres at a cost of over Rs. 640 crores. With a 2300 m runway, the airport is suitable for all weather operations. The airport terminal is a modern building, promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy and recycling of resources.
