  • Rs. 485 crore airport project is a joint venture of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the governments of Punjab & Haryana.
  • The Punjab government had in year 2017 demanded that the airport be named “Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Mohali”.
  • In year 2016, the Haryana Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to name the Chandigarh airport after Bhagat Singh.
