Punjab Police arrested 78 activists in a massive drive against ‘Waris Punjab De’.

  • The Punjab Police has launched a state-wide combing operation to nab the members of Waris Punjab De (WPD) group involved in criminal activities.
  • Many criminal cases are registered against these members. So far 78 people have been arrested in this connection and many others have been detained for questioning.
  • During the State-wide operation, nine weapons, including one .315 bore rifle, seven rifles of 12 bore, one revolver, and 373 live cartridges of different calibers have been recovered so far.
  • The spokesperson said that the members of ‘Waris Punjab De’ are accused of promoting enmity between communities, attempt to murder, attack on policemen and obstructing the work of government employees.
  • An FIR was lodged against the members of this group on 24 February in connection with the attack on Ajnala police station.
