Punjab Police arrested 78 activists in a massive drive against ‘Waris Punjab De’.
The Punjab Police has launched a state-wide combing operation to nab the members of Waris Punjab De (WPD) group involved in criminal activities.
Many criminal cases are registered against these members. So far 78 people have been arrested in this connection and many others have been detained for questioning.
During the State-wide operation, nine weapons, including one .315 bore rifle, seven rifles of 12 bore, one revolver, and 373 live cartridges of different calibers have been recovered so far.
The spokesperson said that the members of ‘Waris Punjab De’ are accused of promoting enmity between communities, attempt to murder, attack on policemen and obstructing the work of government employees.
An FIR was lodged against the members of this group on 24 February in connection with the attack on Ajnala police station.
