Indian prodigy R Praggnanandhaa became the winner of Norway Chess Group A in the open chess tournament in Stavanger with 7.5 points from 9 rounds.
The tournament was organized by Norway Chess, Offerspiel, Stavanger & Sandnes Chess Club from 3rd to 10th June 2022 at Sparebank 1 SR Bank, Bjargstad Terrase 1, 4007 Stavanger. The 9 round tournament had time controls increasing from move number 1 to 90 minutes + 30 seconds.
The top seeded 16-year-old grandmaster was in good form & remained unbeaten for 9 rounds. R Praggnanandhaa finished the tournament with a win over fellow Indian V Praneeth, an International Master.
R Praggnanandhaa finished a full point ahead of second-placed IM Marcel Efroimsky (Israel) and IM Jung Min Seo (Sweden).
