Tamil Nadu is set to become the first state to launch its own climate change mission.
It launched the Green Tamil Nadu Mission in September 2022 and the Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission in August 2022.
The state government in the 2021-2022 budget had announced the launch of the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission with an outlay of Rs 500 crore to undertake climate change management and mitigation activities.
The Climate Change Mission Document emphasizes that climate change is an undeniable reality that has serious impacts on the natural environment, human life, economic assets and activities.
