What is Zika virus?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Zika virus is a mosquito-borne virus, mainly transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, which bite mostly during the day. People infected with the Zika virus show symptoms such as rash, fever, conjunctivitis, muscle pain, joint pain, and headache, which usually last two to seven days.
The Zika virus is making a comeback in the country, with a 67-year-old man testing positive in November 2022. He was diagnosed with Zika in mid-November after visiting a hospital in Pune after complaining of fever, cough, joint pain and fatigue. The man has not had any complications since then and is currently in a stable condition.
