On 15 march 2022, The Ministry of havens, Shipping and Waterways achieved a landmark when the MV Ram Prasad Bismil got the longest vessel ever to sail on the heavy Brahmaputra. The 90 meters long procession is 26 measures wide, loaded with a draft of2.1 measures.

It’s successfully completed the aspiring airman run of heavy burden movement from Haldia Dock in Kolkata after it anchored at Pandu port in Guwahati on 15 March 2022. The vessel along with two barges – DB Kalpana Chawla and DB APJ Abdul Kalam – was flagged off from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Haldia. The Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to amp the Ashtalakshmi capability of the Northeast to power the growth engine of India.
