World Cancer Day is observed annually on 4th February. This day is celebrated to create awareness among people about the deadly disease called cancer, its causes, symptoms and preventive measures. About 7 lakh new cancer cases are detected by healthcare providers every year. There are mainly five different types of cancer found in Indian women which include breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, uterine cancer and oral cancer.

The theme of the World Cancer Day 2023 is “Close The Care Gap”.
History :
The first International Cancer Day was celebrated in Geneva and Switzerland in the same year. World Cancer Day was made official at the first World Summit Against Cancer in 2000. The event was held in Paris and was attended by members of cancer organizations and prominent government leaders from around the world.
