History :

World Contraception Day was observed for the first time on 26 September 2007. On that day, 10 international family planning organizations put forward the idea of ​​using contraceptives to enable a planned decision about whether to start a family, giving the hope that every pregnancy is desired.

Significance :

According to the World Health Organization, the importance of World Contraception Day has been included in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. It aims, “by 2030, to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, information and education, and to ensure the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.”
