World Day Against Child Labour 2022 : 12th June

World Day Against Child Labour is observed every year on 12th June. On this day, the International Labour Organization (ILO), along with its constituents and partners, is calling for increased investment in social security systems & schemes to establish solid social security floors and protect children from child labour. According to the ILO, around 152 million children are engaged in child labor globally, of which 72 million are in hazardous work.

Theme :

The 2022 theme of the World Day Against Child Labour is “Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour”.

History :

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 to focus attention on the worldwide extent of kid labour and therefore the action & efforts needed to eliminate it. Each year 12th June brings together governments, employers & labor organisations, civil society, as well as many people around the world, to highlight the plight of child workers and the actions that are often taken to help them.

Qns : Why is World Day Against Child Labor is celebrated?

Ans : International Labor Organization (ILO) started celebrating World Day Against Child Labor in 2002 with the aim of highlighting the plight of children who are victims of child labour.
